It seems that the hedgehogs Suzu brought home with her have taken to wandering about the Willow dorm. If you happen to come across a small spiky ball, please do not upset it. The baby hedgehogs have decided to sleep there.

After our trips to the aquarium and zoo, which provided much information on various flora, fauna, and aqueous creatures, I updated my rather worn copy of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Some of the classifications given to the creatures are excessive, so I have remedied this by lowering and raising them as necessary. Kyouju, if you would like to take a look over my copious notes on the matter, I will lend you my book.

At home, my father took a look at Suzu. With the help of a member of the Japanese Ministry of Magic that he knew, it has been determined that Suzu still hasn't gotten the potion out of her system, most likely due to the residual magic she has because she's a tanuki. The Ministry official said she should be back to normal within six months, to which I replied that it would be closer to the middle of December considering the amount of potion you say she still has. My mother did not find this endearing and I was forced to cook for a week without using magic. I only singed off my eyebrows 3.5 times.
inui: (Illogical.)
Willow losing the treasure hunt/challenge was not wholly unexpected. I have already listed my reasons, but I feel the main component is a lack of understanding of how the points were tallied. After running over 24 simulations, I am, for once, at a loss.

I apologize to my fellow housemates. I accidentally blew up a cauldron of Pepper-Up Potion. I did not think hedgehog quills would be so... volatile.

Speaking of hedgehogs, my dad thinks Suzu is going to permanently stay as one. He's asked to look her over when I come home for summer break. Personally, I think she rather enjoys being a hedgehog (84.209%). The other day, when I came back from gathering data on the Peony and Pine Quidditch teams a walk in the forest, I was surprised to find a Suzu toddling about my room with a small herd/group/nest/gathering of baby hedgehogs. Since they don't have residual tanuki markings like she does, I can ascertain that they are not hers and she brought them back with her during some wanderings.

Kabaji isn't the only one who can share cute pictures of his familiar.

I am providing this adorable, 100% image of Suzu as a reminder not to accidentally take her outside and set her back inside the forest. This goes along with the five smaller hedgehogs that seem to be following her around.

When they are older, I would like to adopt them out as pets. If you are interested, send me an owl, no howlers allowed, with your name, house, year, if you know anything about taking care of hedgehogs, and why you would be a good owner.

Happy birthday, Kyouju. After lessons, I thought we could go into the Forest to explore. 87.3% chance that we will see errant spells still flying.

(ooc: inui has 3 vials of perfectly brewed potion for renji. 1) felix felicis, 2) amortentia, and 3) draught of the living death. also, a notebook of personal data gathered over the past year that inui thinks renji will find useful)

Momoshiro, how is the potion working? I made it colorless and odorless so you wouldn't notice any change in the taste of your food. If you need more, I have plenty of vials for continued use.

Suzu is still a hedgehog. Over break, I took her to a nearby park and she wandered about while I gathered some grass.

suzu suzu

She liked to wander about which was slightly worrisome because it's easy for her to get lost since she's on the small size.

suzu suzu

My dad thinks she'll be back to normal by the end of the month which is good. It's strange to have a hedgehog, but she is easier to carry around.
inui: (Was I wrong?)
Three days and Suzu has still not returned. I'm worried that Yanagi was right and she was tired of dealing with my potion mishaps. This morning, I happened to find the hedgehog like this when I woke up:

I picked it up and worked to get it to stop struggling. It made a little squeaking noise.

After lessons, I noticed the hedgehog was covered in ink. I suppose my inkstone somehow got wet and it crawled over it when I had my bag laid flat in the library. I had to give it a bath.

I searched the Forest again today for Suzu, but I came up empty-handed. I managed to gather some more potions ingredients and food for the hedgehog. I also sent an owl to my parents, but I feel they are unlikely (72%) to replace my tanuki. Then again, I also don't want to replace her.
inui: (WTF?!)
RENJI!!!!

As I was about to start a potions essay for end of term, it came to my attention that my familiar was, for lack of a better term, missing. Usually, Suzu is puttering around the room or near my experimentation table and greets me when I return from lessons. Before I started, I searched my room and all the various nooks, crannies, and magical hideaways. I found this:

My tanuki is missing and I have a hedgehog. Kyouju, have you seen Suzu by chance? I know she likes you and visits often.

(ooc: so... Suzu got into one of Inui's potions that had spilled and has been transfigured into a hedgehog. it'll wear off... eventually. he hasn't figured this out and is kind of beside himself // strikes deleted)
inui: (Eavesdropping.)
Before anyone asks, no, I will not give out vials of Amortentia so you can continue your infatuation and obsession with the object of your affections. However, if you are willing to tell me what scents the potion has for you, I might be willing to give you enough for one hour of mental bliss.

My experiment was rather successful. Minus Momoshiro's interest in me. I had not predicted that. Less than a 5% probability. Though, I am still of the opinion that certain individuals have natural obsession levels that would only raise to dangerous levels if they consumed (and/or continued to imbibe) the potion. In particular, Atobe and Hiyoshi.

Momoshiro... in an effort to make amends for my, er, treatment of you on Valentine's, I've asked the house elves to deliver a booklet of gift certificates to McDonald's for when you go home next.

Kyouju, you never told me what Amortentia smelled like when you were in its presence. I believe this is either an error of judgment (20%), due to the environment at the time (74.3%), or that you don't want me to know (5.7%).

I have learned not to experiment with Forgetfulness potion. After my latest exploit, I missed an entire weekend and when I was finally awoken, I not only could not remember my name, but was unable to recall what happened to cause the issue in the first place. Thankfully Suzu managed to get Renji. I appreciate your assistance, Kyouju. My potions cabinet is at your disposal, even though it is currently depleted due to my giving Momoshiro all of my modified potions. Though I'd like to test on the Skele-Gro formula to see if it can't act quicker.

My mom sent me a broken Remembrall. I've been wanting one for ages. I can't believe she managed to find one that hadn't already been repaired! They can be useful in the initial stages, but being unable to help the holder much more than that is annoying. I have determined that 83.6% more usefulness can come from a Remembrall if the smoke inside would change depending on how close you were to remembering what you forgot. Green would tell the holder that they've remembered (why which point I assume the holder would have already figured that part out) and the smoke would shift depending on the level of recall. Perhaps yellow when you are getting closer, but haven't quite got it yet.

I spent most of yesterday afternoon setting up a mini potions area on the currently-unoccupied side of my room. Suzu kept nipping at me during this process, but I couldn't quite figure out why. ...Then one of my vials of Felix Felicis shattered during a move and seeped into a slightly damaged bottle of the Draught of the Living Death and... that's all I remember. I'm around 88.4% sure that the combination of the two potions caused a deep sleep instead of a coma, as is warranted by the Draught. I can only surmise that it was due to the Felix Felicis that I was spared another extended stay in the Infirmary for potions-related mishaps.

Nonetheless, I look forward to the Potions lessons this term. I do apologize in advance if my experiments cause any... undue side-effects.

(ooc: this is Suzu, isn't she cute? // also, Inui has a tendency to make potions explode in class. normally towards the end after they've been graded, so it's up to you if you want your character to be splattered by the concoction Inui's created)
